High-Integrity Pressure Protection Systems (HIPPS) are Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) designed to prevent over-pressurisation of pipelines and downstream plants. Employed in high pressure processes, HIPPS will close dedicated shut-off valves if the pressure exceeds the defined system parameters, mitigating the risk of damage to downstream equipment and helping to ensure operational safety. Alderley have the expertise to provide both mechanical and electronically controlled HIPPS packages, designed in accordance with IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 by a global team of certified staff.

 

All systems are designed and tailored to suit the individual project specifications or client/Alderley developed standardised design philosophies, always incorporating safety, environmental and statutory requirements.

Key design features of HIPPS include:

  • Self-contained pneumatic or hydraulic fail-safe unit, removing the need for utilities such as instrument air or electricity
  • Optional electro-hydraulic design to provide partial and full stroke testing capability
  • High pressure systems capable of up to 20,000psi (API 6A and High pressure systems capable of up to 20,000psi (API 6A and API 6D)
  • API temperature classifications K to Y as required
  • In-line serviceable Final Element Ball or Gate valves, typically in a one-piece, top entry body with bi-direction seat tightness and SIL 3 certified
  • Wide range of materials and exotics available, including 316, Stainless, Incoloy, Duplex, Super Duplex
